Chefs of 2017



Luzmilda Montero

Chef Luzmilda Montero, trained by master Chef, Mrs. Susana Eiley, owner of the famous El Fogon Restaurant in San Pedro, impressed us with a favorite Belizean snack, Salbutes (crispy corn tortilla with chicken), as well as her scrumptious fish balls on coconut rice and tomato sauce!!!



Sylvia Eiley 

Chef Sylvia Eiley, from the beautiful "Isla Bonita" from Wataview Vacation Home Belize, shared her scrumptious Stewed Chicken Skewers with ripe plantain, as well as coconut curry fish chowder with green plantain, dumplings!



Jennie Staines 

See & Taste Belize returned Chef Jennie from Elvis Kitchen by popular demand, preparing Belize's traditional "Spanish" and Creole cuisine with a twist, such as her delectable Pork Tacos, Conch Ceviche and Rice & Beans with Stewed Chicken! 



Sean Kuylen 

Our own Celebrity Chef Sean Kuylen once again enticed us with his delectable, mouth watering Garifuna Hudut with Sere Lasus and Creole Salted Cod on Toasted Cassava at See & Taste Belize 2017!



Samuel Gonzalez

Chef Samuel Gonzalez, a protégé of Master Chef Hugo Meyer and owner of Rain Restaurant in San Pedro, joined See & Taste Belize for the first time in 2017, inspiring a captive audience with succulent stewed chicken and rice and beans empanada with a recado reduction and his famous chicken and cream cheese poppers with pineapple coulis!!!!



Yolanda Castillo

Drum roll....the Garifuna Flava team was back on stage to delight us with their charm and down to earth Belizean cooking. Born and raised in Dangriga, Yolanda (Cordelia) Castillo and her husband, Rodell Castillo migrated to Chicago and opened up Garifuna Flava Restaurant featured in famous food show, "Diners, Drive Inns and Dives". She cooked some delicious Fish and Beans Panades and Conch Fritters!!!


Chef Dean Uren represented the newly built Itz'ana Resort and Residences, "where adventure meets luxury", bringing his passion and flair for cuisine by merging the exotic spices of Belize with his international culinary experience. Chef Dean created a Chicken Creole with yellow ginger and a smoky Black Bean Puree with Sweet Potato and Jicama Chips!!!



Kevin Chi

Chef Kevin Chi, an up and coming young talented Belizean Chef -winner of the 2017 BTB "Taste of Belize" Amateur Chef Competition, and sponsored by BTB-merged exotic flavors on a pepitos encrusted fish with grilled tangerine and mojo sauce, as well as prepared a mainstay of our Belizean classic, Pork Dukunu!

Chef Jennie Stains came from our very own famous ELVIS' KITCHEN to showcase her specialties of Rice & Beans bites (with stewed chicken, salad and plantains) and Pork Pibil Tacos.

Chef Sean Kuylen enriched See and Taste Belize 2015 with his specialties of Pork Picadillo Meatballs de Relleno Nego, Mayan Corn Ducunu and Garifuna Seafood Sere!!!

Chef Sherlette Arlene Belisle represented RAIN Restaurant from our "La Isla Bonita" (San Pedro)! The audience truly enjoyed her specialities of Jicama and Mango Shrimp Ceviche, Coconut Curry Shrimp and Guava Pork Sliders!!

Chef Robert Pronk headed to Miami from Hopkins where he cooks at his 2 incredibly popular restaurants - Love on the Rocks & Chef Robs's Gourmet Kitchen- to join us for our first ever See & Taste Belize 2015!!
